 | Press your quilt top making sure that all seams are going
in one direction or the other with no "flip flopping" seams.

 | Seam and press your backing fabric making sure that you
remove the selvedge edges and press the seams open. Your backing
fabric needs to be at least 8 inches larger than your top in both length and
width. (ex. a 50" x 70" top needs a backing that is 58" x 78") |
 | When providing your own batting that does not come
packaged the batting needs to be at least 8 inches larger in both length and
width. (ex. a 50" x 70" top needs a backing that is 58" x 78") |
 | Square up both your top, backing, and batting. |
 | Trim any loose threads from your quilt top and backing
because they will show through your quilt top once it is quilted. |
 | Do not baste your quilt. |
 | Pin a slip of paper to your quilt top indicating the top
edge. |
