Preparation Guidelines

bulletPress your quilt top making sure that all seams are going in one direction or the other with no "flip flopping" seams.

bulletSeam and press your backing fabric making sure that you remove the selvedge edges and press the seams open.  Your backing fabric needs to be at least 8 inches larger than your top in both length and width. (ex. a 50" x 70" top needs a backing that is 58" x 78")

bulletWhen providing your own batting that does not come packaged the batting needs to be at least 8 inches larger in both length and width. (ex. a 50" x 70" top needs a backing that is 58" x 78")

bulletSquare up both your top, backing, and batting.

bulletTrim any loose threads from your quilt top and backing because they will show through your quilt top once it is quilted.

bulletDo not baste your quilt.

bulletPin a slip of paper to your quilt top indicating the top edge.
